The
Syracuse Thunderbirds Aero Radio Society model
airplane club after incorporating in 1979, and obtaining a use permit from
the town of Schroeppel,, purchased twenty three acres of farmland four
miles east of Phoenix, New York, for the specific purpose of promoting the
design, construction and organized flying of radio control aircraft.

Today,
over sixty members enjoy flying off nearly 42 acres of well maintained
grass runways. Our members are comprised of modelers with varying degrees
of experience and interest. Some have many years of experience in the
hobby; some are just starting out in the fun world of model aviation. On
any particular weekend, you may find any number or combination of
"Sunday Sport" type R/C aircraft, sailplanes, gliders, pattern birds,
pylon racers, WWI or WWII Scale aircraft and helicopters at the field.
